Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate facilities for preheating desulfurizing catalyst and reduce construction cost and operation cost by introducing high temperature atmosphere gas from a combustion furnace directly into a desulfurizer by-passing the cooler.
CONSTITUTION: In an atmosphere gas generating device, a valve 26 is closed and valves 27, 29 are opened when starting operation and while high temperature gas from a combustion furnace 1 is led to the space 21, gas passage 20 and space 22 of the first desulfurizer 6 through a conduit 25 a layer 16 of catalyst is heated. Since preheating of the layer of catalyst is made by utilizing sensible heat of atmosphere gas effectively, construction cost for preheating heater, fan, etc. can be saved and operation cost can also be reduced.
