Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the titled remedy containing a benzophenone derivative as an active component, and capable of eliminating the proliferation activity of cancer cell or eliminating the cancer cell itself by acting exclusively to cancer cells.
CONSTITUTION: The titled remedy contains the compound of formula (R1 and R2 are H, lower alkoxy, lower alkyl, or halogen; R3 is H, lower alkyl, or acyl) as an active component. Since the anticarcinomatous activity of an alkylation agent such as nitrogen mustard or an antimetabolite such as pyrine antagonist is non- selective, the agent attacks not only the cancer cells but also normal cells, and accordingly has high toxicity. On the contrary, the above benzophenone derivative attacks only the cancer cells, and eliminates its proliferation activity or eliminates the cancer cell itself. The activity of the benzophenone derivative is supposed as the redifferentiation of cancer cells produced by the abnormal differentiation of normal cells, i.e. elimination of cancer cells. It is administered orally or parenterally at a dose of usually 10mgW3g daily.
