Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve cooling effect of exhaust gas flowing in an inner tube while preventing a muffler from degradation due to seizuer in a vertical bonnet penetrating type muffler by providing slits in the lower portion of an outer tube of the muffler to send the atmosphere directly into the outer tube.
CONSTITUTION: A muffler body 1 extending through a bonnet 3 of a tractor to erect thereabove has an exhaust pipe 4 of an engine inserted into an inner tube introducing pipe 5a at the lower portion of the body 1. An end 6a of the outer tube 6 of the muffler body 1 contacts sealingly the introducing pipe 5a. The lower tapered portion of the outer tube 6 is provided with a plurality of slits 7... and the atmosphere sucked from these slits 7 is introduced into a cooling air path 8 between the inner tube 5 and outr tube 6. The inner tube 5 opens to the outer tube 6 near the upper portion 10 of the muffler body 1, and exhaust gas flowing out of the inner tube 5 is mixed with the cool atmosphere introduced through the cooling air path 8 for cooling.
