Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an economical traffic control system which exercises necessary traffic control at some exchange, by sending a traffic signal, based upon information on the congestion of another exchange having a satellite circuit, to the satellite circuit. CONSTITUTION:A switching network consisting of exchanges 8-17 is connected to a satellite 1 through satellite terminal stations 5-7. Satellite circuits 2-4 are constituted by using a common signal circuit 30 and many voice circuits 31- 33 on frequency multiplex basis, and the common signal circuit 30 consists of a reference burst 40 and data burst 41-43 assigned exclusively to the satellite terminal stations 5-7. Each data burst has a header 50, a signal unit 51, parity 52, and a traffic control signal channel 53, and the exchanges 8-17 send their congenstion states to the traffic control signal channels 53. At other exchanges, traffic control, such as connection restriction, over the exchange in the congestion state is exercised on the basis of said information.
