Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a sound composite roll with metallic molds for centrifugal casting using metallic molds in neck parts by adjusting the relations of metallic mold ratios adequately. CONSTITUTION:Sleeve in both neck parts are formed of sleeve metallic molds 2, 3, and the ratio between the weight of the mold 2 for the lower neck part and the weight of the lower neck part of the composite roll cast by these is defined as a metallic mold ratio M1. The ratio between the weight of the part contributing to the cooling and solidification of the barrel part of the composite roll to be cast in actuality, that is, a barrel part metallic mold 1a, and the weight of the barrel part of the composite roll to be cast is defined as a metallic mold ratio M2. The ratio between the weight of the mold 3 for the upper neck part and the weight of the upper neck part of the composite roll to be cast by this is defined as a metallic mold ratio M3. These are so constituted as to have the relations M1>M2>M3. Even in the casting of a molten core material of large shrinking characteristic, defects such as cracks, cavities and the like occuring in defective casting plans are prevented by these.
