Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the operating efficiency of an induction motor by altering a set firing angle value which is applied to a firing control circuit in response to the displacement from the phase of a load current which flows through the motor from a reference current phase necessary to maximize the power factor of the motor. CONSTITUTION:AC voltages from AC power source lines 1A, 1B are supplied to an induction motor 3 through a bidirectional thyristor 2. A load current which flows to the motor 3 is inputted through a transformer 14, a diode bridge 15 and a detecting resistor 16 to a Schmitt circuit 17, and its phase is compared with the phase of a reference current necessary to maximize the power factor of the motor via a reversible counter 11 and a comparator 9. The firing angle of the bidirectional thyristor 2 is controlled based on the compared result so as to always maximize the power factor of the motor.
