Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the configuration without the effect of disturbance, by changing the video picture of a steel plate from a temperature level to steep level, remoing the scale and water existence signals, and performing binary coding. CONSTITUTION:The outputs of the N number of photoelectric element groups 3 are obtained when a scanning circuit 15 scans and reads the field of sight in the width direction of the steel plate every time the steel plate 1 advances for a specified distance in the direction of an arrow one by one. Said video signal is stored in a memeory 11 through an amplifier 4 and a quantizing ciruit 10. The picture signal is differentiated in two dimensions by a differential circuit 12 and converted into the steep signal. The binary coding is performed at a constant threshold level by a binary coding circuit 14. The signal is held by a peak holding circuit 13. Thus the signal of the steel plate which is not affected by the existence of scale and water is extracted, and the width which is not affected by the disturbance is determined by a width measuring circuit 6.
