Abstract

PURPOSE:To agitate the liquid surface in the tank and prevent the generation of the air sucking eddy by a method wherein a wave making device, agitating the liquid surface in the suction tank, is annexed to the suction tank. CONSTITUTION:A suction pipe 7 and a bell mouth 8 are attached respectively to the upper and lower parts of the pump 2 installed in the water in the suction tank 1. Here, vibrations generated by a vibrator 10 are transmitted to a vibrating board 12 thrugh a connecting rod 11, whereby the vibrating board 12 is vibrated to generate the wave on the liquid surface 3 and this wave is brought into a condition that it covers the whole surface of the liquid surface 3. Thus, even though the air sucking eddy is generated on the liquid surface 3, there is no fear to grow up the air sucking eddy 13 to a large scale since the whole surface of the liquid surface 3 is being waved.
