Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a dam to fall quickly, by a method wherein a large-sized discharge path, equipped with an air supply source and a power-operated valve, is constructed to each of rubber dams secured between a plural number of piers constructed between levees. CONSTITUTION:A rubber dam 5 is secured between piers 3, 3 and between the pier and a slope 4, and to a river bed 2 and the sides of the pier 3, or the river bed 2 and the slope 4. Each of the rubber dams 5 is connected to an air supply source, located in a control chamber 6 on a levee, with a small-sized buried air feed pipe 7, and a large-sized discharge path 8, located at least one side of the pier 3 and connected to the inside of the rubber dam 5, is constructed in the pier 3. Air is fed from the buried air feed pipe 7 when the rubber dam 5 rises. When it falls, a power-operated valve 9 is released to quickly discharge air from the large-sized discharge path 8. This causes the rubber dam 5 to come down completely in a few minutes.
