Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable a rapid replacing of work rolls, by inserting a chock separating member to three work-roll-chocks in-between in Y type rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:Upper work rolls are kept open by actuating upper-roll balancing cylinders 28 in replacing the rolls, and a center roll is drawn out by another means. A lower work roll decends to put a chock 19 upon rails 31 when a back up roll 22 is descended by disconnecting the balancing cylinders 28 of the lower work roll. Thereafter, a separating member 33 is inserted to the upper and lower work roll chocks 20, 21 and 19 in-between to put the member 33 upon the lower work-roll chock 19 stably. Then the upper work rolls 20 and 21 are stably placed upon the member 33 by disconnecting the balancing cylinders 28. Thus the upper roll chocks are drawn out while engaging with the member 33 when the lower work-roll chock is pushed out onto a dolly by ordinary means.
