Abstract
PURPOSE: To use the titled novel substance as an antimicrobial agent, by cultivating a microorganism of the genus Streptomyces which is a microorganism capable of producing the titled novel substance, and collecting the titled substance from the resultant culture.
CONSTITUTION: A microorganism, e.g. Streptomyces ishikarinensis Y-G665G strain, belonging to the genus Streptomyces, and capable of producing the substances Y-G665G-A and Y-665G-B is cultivated in a usual culture medium containing D-xylose, meat extract, metallic sulfate, etc. under aerobic conditions at about 18W35°C and a pH of about 5W10. After the completion of the cultivation, the microbial cell is removed, and a mixture is collected and purified from the resultant filtrate by using the difference in solubility, and solubility value in a solvent, difference in adsorption affinity for various adsorbents, and difference in distribution in the liquid phases. The separation of the respective substances from the mixture is carried out by the similar operations as described above.
