Abstract
PURPOSE:To shorten idle grinding time by detecting acoustic emission generated when the tool starts to contact with the material to be worked due to the breakdown of the tool. CONSTITUTION:When a grind stone base 11 contacts with the material to be worked 8, acoustic emission is generated due to the breakdown of a grind stone 14, the deformation of the material to be worked 8, etc. The acoustic emission is detected by an AE detecting section 26, the detecting signals are inputted to a grind stone feeder and a speed control section 22 through an amplifying section 27, a filter 28 and a signal processing section 29, the speed of feeding of the grind stone 14 is changed over to the predetermined speed of grinding feeding from the speed of gap elimination feeding by commands from the control section 22, grinding working is started, and the idle grinding time is shortened.
