Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a rubber product having metallic luster and excellent heat resistance, elasticity and flexibility, by blending metallic powder and an org. peroxide with a transparent rubber capable of crosslinking with anorg. peroxide and crosslinking and molding the mixture.
CONSTITUTION: 0.1W10pts.wt. lustrous metallic powder (B) having a particle size of 1W50μ such as Al powder and 0.1W7pts.wt. org. peroxide (C), which is inert to component B, are thoroughly mixed with and dispersed in 100pts.wt. transparent rubber (A) capable of crosslinking with an org. peroxide, such as an ethylene/propylene rubber. The mixture is crosslinked and molded into a desired shape by a transfer molding/crosslinking method or an injection molding/crosslinking method.
USE: Switch knobs for TV sets, radio set, turntable mats for record players, floor mats, etc.
