Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve adhesion of coating film and form a coating film of uniform thickness on the surface of modified polypropylene parts in complicated shape, by introducing functional groups on the surface of the parts and applying a coating which contains functional groups capable of reacting with the above functional groups.
CONSTITUTION: Modified polypropylene resin parts are plasma treated in oxygen gas atmosphere to introduce functional groups onto the surface. A reaction- curing coating contg. functional groups capable of reacting with the above functional groups, is applied to the treated parts. Preferred modified polypropylene resin is polypropylene modified with ethylene-propylene rubber with the modification degree of 10W40%. The cured coating film shows a very strong and uniform adhesion to the parts because of the chemical reaction between the two types of functional groups.
