Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve performance of a pump, by forming a clearance between an impeller and a housing for constituting a sealing section, and providing a labyrinth at the sealing section for preventing leakage of fuel from the clearance. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of blade inserting grooves 1c are formed around the outer circumference of an impeller 1 on both sides thereof. A slit-like labyrinth 3a' is formed at a sealing section 3a that is formed between a suction port 6' and an outlet port 8 of a rear housing 3. Pressure of fuel is increased gradually as it proceeds from the suction port 6' toward the outlet port 8, so that a small amount of fuel tends to leak from the clearance between the partition 3a and the outermost peripheral part of the impeller 1. However, since a plurality of slit-like labyrinths 3a' are formed at the sealing section 3a, it is enabled to prevent leakage of fuel and hence to improve performance of the pump.
