Abstract

PURPOSE:To spread an applicable range of a work for its diameter, by quite eliminating interference between an internal diameter tool and work or headstock, that is, by providing a tool storage magazine to a position, independently of a dividing head, that is, to a position for the tool to interfere with neither the headstock nor the work. CONSTITUTION:A tool storage magazine 7 is turned to come to a replacement position by a call command, then an oil hydraulic cylinder 17, provided on a tool rest 6, is operated to transfer a tool, engaged to an engagement member 20, to the side of a dividing head 8. The dividing head 8 is lifted by action of a piston 24 and operated 180 deg. rotary indexing by a motor 9. In accordance with lowering motion of the piston 24, a tool 19 is correctly positioned and clamped to the tool rest 6 through joints 32, 33. If a rotary tool is set, a clutch 39 of a driving shaft is mated to a driving device of the rotary tool. In this way, a necessary tool can be always fed to a cutting position of the tool rest 6 by repeating half turn indexing operation of the dividing head. Further the tool can be exchanged with the tool storage magazine even in cutting work at a face-to-face preparation position.
