Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of short circuiting during changing over and to perform smooth crater treatment by reducing arc current at the end of welding and reducing the arc voltage after prescribed time then changing over the welding to the crater treatment. CONSTITUTION:In the TIG welding executed by controlling the distance between a W electrode and the work constant in such a way that arc voltage assumes a set voltage value, in the stage of changing over welding to a crater treatment upon ending of the welding, only the arc current is first reduced to the prescribed current in the crater treatment, and is controlled to the direction of making the arc length long, after which the arc voltage is reduced to the prescribed value in the crater treatment at the point of the time when the prescribed times elapses, whereby the crater treatment is accomplished. In a control circuit, the welding is started when a switch PB1 is turned on. Upon ending of the welding, a switch PB2 is turned on to turn relays CR6, CR7, timers TM6, TM7 and a relay CRTM successively on, whereby the crater treatment is controlled.
