Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the highly accurate remote measuring by utilizing the temperature change in a light emitting characteristic of phosphorescent substance which indicates photoluminescence for irradiation of red light or infrared light. CONSTITUTION:The material, wherein the phosphorescent substance 1 which indicates photoluminescence phenomenon is dispersed in nitrocellulose or a silicate bonding agent, is placed in an atmosphere whose temperature is to be measured. A light source 2 which irradiates a first exciting light in a pulse shape is provided. The first exciting light 3 from said light source 2 is irradiated on the phosphorescent substance 1 through a light transmitting device 4. Meanwhile the phosphorescent light 5 generated by th phosphorescent substance 1 to which the exciting light 3 is irradiated is introduced to a detector 7 through a light transmitting device 6. A light source 8 for second exciting light which makes the phosphorescent substance 1 generate photoluminescence phenomenon is optically combined so that the light passes the same optical system as the first esciting light 3. The light source 8, the detector 7, and the light source 2 are constituted so that they are electrically controlled in the time domain by a shift register 9.
