Abstract

PURPOSE:To retain meshing of pinion shaft with rack at the time of steering correctly by providing the pinion shaft at its foremost part with a centering spring for retention of the spool valve in the neutral position and a spring to apply a load in the parallel direction. CONSTITUTION:A spool valve 10 to supply the actuator for power steering with oil pressure selectively is in engagement with a pin 20 of the drive lever 17, which is supported by a pinion shaft 5 rotatably, and movement of this pinion shaft 5 to the left and right at the time of steering as in the illustration attached will change over the valve 10. A centering spring 13 is furnished at the spool valve 10. At the foremost part of the pinion shaft 5, a pin 29 is installed projecting, being pinched by the abovementioned centering spring 13 and another spring 33 which shall bear the load in the parallel direction. Accordingly, a leftwise shift, for ex., of this pin 29 together with the shaft 5 will cause outward bending of the spring 30. Thus the shaft 5 receives a counterforce F' to make right intersection with the rack 1, and regular meshing can be retained.
