Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate correcting errors, by making the capstan mechanism of an endless tape driving device reversible and providing a tension mechanism which absorbs the sag of a tape for the operation of the capstan mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A tape 2 taken out from the inside circumference of an endless tape winding ring 1 is received by tape guides 3, 4, and 5 and is held between a capstan 6A and a roller 7A and is led out to run the tape and is returned to the outside circumference of the endless tape winding ring 1 successively. A head 8 is provided between tape guides 4 and 5 to erase, write, and read information. The capstan 6A and the roller 7A are made reversible, and a tension arm 10 having a tension roller 9 is provided between tape guides 3 and 4. A tension mechanism energizes the tension roller 9 toward a position 9a by an elastic material and absorbs the sag of the tape for the reverse of the capstan 6A. Thus, the rewrite and the read in the same position are possible to shorten the correction time.
