Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to perform a processing operation highly precisely for an inspecting surface, by a method wherein recesses are formed in the back of a slider which is designed to inspect a magnetic recording medium, which is in a high-speed spin, by means of an electrostatic capacity, and lead wires can be housed in the recesses. CONSTITUTION:An air bearing floating slider, for use with the inspection of a high- speed rotating magnetic recording medium, is formed such that recesses are formed in the back thereof, electrode conductors are inserted therethrough to a slide surface, and the end surface are exposed to the slider surface to form an electrode surface. For example, two recesses 9, 9' are formed in the back of a slider body 6 made of aluminum, electrode wires 10a-10d are inserted from the bottom thereof so that they reach air bearing surfaces 7, 7', and end electrode parts 10a-10d of the wire are positioned flush with the air bearing surfaces 7, 7'. When the air bearing surface is ground polished, the wires are housed in the recesses, and the slider body is reliably attached to a processing device. This facilitates a precision processing.
