Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized submarine optical repeater housing having superior adaptability to laying facilities by connecting the tip parts of two pressure-tight housings by a universal connecting device, and realizing double structure wherein an optical fiber core in the universal connecting device is inserted into a thin pipe. CONSTITUTION:At the connection part of a submarine optical cable 1, an anchoring device 2 equipped with an anchoring part 3 which anchors the submarine optical cable 1 is provided; and an optical repeater unit 8 is installed coupling with said device 2, and a pressure-tight housing 9 into which the optical fiber core 5 of the optical cable 1 is introduced is provided. At the tip part of this pressure-tight housing 9, on the other hand, individual feedthroughs 11 which lead the optical fiber cores 5 out respectively are provided; and the tip parts of two pressure-tight housings 9 are connected flexibly by a universal connecting device 13 and the optical fiber cores 5 in this device 13 are inserted into a flexible thin pipe, thus obtaining double structure.
