Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain NaOH easily without using mercury by bisecting an electrolytic cell with a partition wall which penetrates through a revolving shaft of a porous iron disc cathode revolving at the center of the cell and encloses the same and introducing salt water and water into the divided cells thereby performing electrolysis. CONSTITUTION:An electrolytic cell 10 is bisected with a partition wall 12 penetrating through a revolving shaft 14 of a porus iron disc cathode 22 and enclosing the same. Salt water is put into one cell 20 and water is introduced into the other cell 28. Next, said cathode 22 is rotated in an arrow direction. Thence, voltage is applied between a carbon anode plate 18 and the cathode 22, whereby electrolysis is accomplished. The NaOH formed in the fine pores of the cathode 22 migrates into the water of the cell 28 in accordance with the revolution of the cathod 22, thereby forming an NaOH soln.
