NEW MATERIAL:An ω-piperazinyl α-hydroxyalkylene dioxybenzene shown by the formulaI(m is 1W3; n is 1W6; R is pyridyl, or phenyl which may have one or more groups selected from halogen, 1W5C alkyl, 1W5C alkoxy, and trifluoromethyl) and its acid addition salt.
EXAMPLE: 6-[2-(4-Phenyl-1-piperazinyl)-1-hydroxyethyl]-1,4-benzodioxane.
USE: Useful as a drug exhibiting hypotensive effect, having immediate manifestations of drug effect, big durability of action, and low acute toxicity, and extremely high safety.
PROCESS: An ω-halogenoalkanoylalkylene dioxybenzene shown by the formula II is reacted with a piperazine shown by the formula III to give a compound shown by the formula IV, the carbonyl group of this compound is reduced to give a compound shown by the formulaI.
