Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable accurate and stable detection of a steel plate by using two vortex-type detectors to detect the steel plate which is conveyed and by combining the outputs of these two detectors for processing. CONSTITUTION:Above or below a steel plate 1 which is conveyed, vortex-type steel plate detectors 3a and 3b are arranged with a distance d between them in the conveying direction of the steel plate 1, and these detectors 3a and 3b are connected to signal processing circuits 4a and 4b, respectively. The above detector 3a is employed for detection of the front end of the steel plate 1, while the detector 3b is employed for detection of the rear end of the steel plate 1. Detection signals obtained from detectors 3a and 3b are introduced into the signal processing circuits and the presence of the steel plate 1 is detected by knowing the difference in the state of detection signals due to the front-end detection and rear-end detection of the steel plate 1. By this constitution, a steel detecting device wherein a point of detection of the steel plate has no relation to the relative distance between the steel plate detector and the steel plate 1 can be obtained.
