Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate a short circuit in the electrode provided to the leading end of an electrostatic powder spray gun and the leading end of a powder paint supply hose and to prevent friction charge on the way by a method wherein said hose of said gun is prepared by using a conductive material and only a certain length of the leading end part thereof is formed from a good insulative material.
CONSTITUTION: In an electrostatic spray gun having a system wherein the leading end of a powder paint supply hose is deeply inserted into the cavity of the gun, the leading end of the gun cavity 2 of the main body 1 of the electrostatic spray gun is reached to the vicinity of a high voltage electrode 3 and volume inherent resistivity of the insulative supply hose 11 therein is adjusted to 1013W 1017Ωcm and the distance until the tailing end part A thereof is at least 10cm or more and, to the rear part thereof, a conductive supply hose 12 is connected and, further, to the rear part thereof, a powder paint supply means 7 is connected. Because the length of the insulative supply hose 11 is 10cm or more, a short cicuit is prevented from the high voltage electrode 3 of the gun leading end and stable electrostatic painting can be carried out and, on the other hand, the supply hose 12 sending a powder paint by an air stream is made of a good conductive material and earthed so as not to accumulate friction charge and danger such as creeping discharge or the like is prevented.
