Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a copy of good quality by applying the best development bias voltage which corresponds to the ground texture density of any original. CONSTITUTION:A linear image sensor 10 outputs a video pulse signal VP of an incident image from the point in time when a scan driving signal SC is generated until the point in time when a stop signal ST is generated. The detection time of this sensor 10 is nearly equalized to the time, for example, until the front edge of an original image formed on a photosensitive drum reaches a developing device, and according to the ground texture density data of an original obtained by signal processing, a development bias voltage is controlled on real-time basis. This development bias voltage data is processed and a slight bias is added to obtain development bias voltage data EP, which is applied to a latch circuit 19. This voltage data EP is read by a development bias voltage controlling circuit 20 to apply a corresponding development bias voltage to a developing roller, thus obtaining a copy which has fidelity to the original.
