Abstract

CONSTITUTION: After melted pitch is cooled as low as possible, it is made to fall down from header 2 into the cooling water tank 1. The melted pitch comes into contact with cooling water to solidify on the surface at first. And, while it is falling down in water, its solidification proceeds until its inside. At this time, the level of the pitch staying in the water tank is always checked with level gauges 7, 8. At the same time, the rate of discharge of the pitch with conveyor 5 is controlled by the rotation rate of the discharger or by on-off driving with timer to effect cooling under optimam conditions according to change in the throughput and softening point of pitch.
