PURPOSE: To recover useful methane efficiently by converting the materials consisting essentially of garbage out of municipal refuse to methane by anaerobic organisms and converting part of the product obtd. by decomposing the refuse of the balance thermally to methane.
CONSTITUTION: Municipal refuse is first sorted to a material groupIconsisiting essentially of garbage and an other material group II. The groupIis mixed with the sewage sludge from a supply line 15 in a mixing tank 2, and after its pH is controlled, it is supplied to a methane fermentation tank 3.
