Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent false displaying by providing specific transparent conductive films in the regions which are not superposed on the display pattern electrodes on a substrate provided with a low temp. compensating heater on the liquid crystal side thereof and a counter electrode, and connecting these electrically to the display electrode patterns opposite to these. CONSTITUTION:A low temp. compensating heater 2 is formed of a transparent conductive film on one 1a of two sheets of glass substrates and a dielectric film 3 of superior insulation characteristic is formed of SiO2 on the heater 2, after which display pattern electrodes 4a and transparent conductive films 21a are formed. Next, an orientation treatment film 5a is formed. The films 21a are formed in the regions not superposed with the counter display pattern electrodes 4b of the electrodes 4a to the same sizes as those of lead-out electrodes 20b of the electrodes 4b or to the sizers slightly larger than these and are electrically connected to the electrodes 20b. Then, the films 21a and the electrode 20b assume the same potential, and the liquid crystal layer 6 between both is electrostatically shielded from the heater film, by which the false displaying is obviated. It is equally well to form the films 21a on the film 5a.
