Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the performance and the workability of a given solid battery by using a solid diaphragm consisting of an electrolyte containing ions of a given metal, a high molecular organic compound having a given specific inductive capacity, and an organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:A solid battery contains a negative active material consisting of a metal chosen from among the groupIand the group II metals. The diaphragm of the above battery is prepared from an ion conducting solid material consisting of an electrolyte made of ions of the above metal, a high molecular organic compound having a specific inductive capacity of above 4, and an organic solvent which dissolves the above electrolyte and the above high molecular organic compound. For instance, when Li is used as a negative active material, LiClO4 is used as an electrolyte, polyvinylidene chloride (a specific inductive capacity, 5) is used as a high molecular organic compound, and tetrahydrofuran is used as an organic solvent. As a result, the diaphragm can be given a high ionic conductivity and an excellent mechanical workability.
