Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formulaI(the respective Xs are F, Cl or Br; Y is F, Cl, Br or I).
EXAMPLE: 3-Chloro-α-ethynylbenzyl trans-2,2-dimethyl-3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)cyclopropanecarboxylate.
USE: A rapid acting insecticide, capable of producing remarkable effects even on injurious insects having the resistance to organophosphorus and/or carbamate insecticides with low toxicity without remaining in the environment though rich in the residual effets, and having a high vapor pressure and improved volatility.
PROCESS: A substituted benzyl alcohol of formula II or a reactive deriative thereof, e.g. a halide, is reacted with a 2,2-dimethyl-3-(2,2-dihalogenovinyl)cyclopropanecarboxylic acid or a reactive derivative thereof, e.g. an acid halide, to give the aimed compound of formulaI.
