Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to effect combustion with a high thermal efficiency and contrive to reduce the noise of the engine by a method wherein an ignition by a plasma ignition plug, which can effect the mixture formation and combustion of a fuel simultaneously, is effected at a plurality of times in one cycle of the engine. CONSTITUTION:Two sets of plasma plugs 5, 5' are attached to a cylinder head 1 and a fuel injection valve 3 is attached so as to inject the fuel against the discharging path 6 of both of the ignition plugs 5, 5'. A specified cylinder ignition signal a, obtained by a specified cylinder ignition signal detecting senser 16, is inputted to one plasma ignition circuit 12 directly while it is inputted to the other plasma ignition circuit 12' through a delay circuit 13, a delay time of which is determined by the output of an engine operational condition detecting senser 14, respectively. The output signal b of a cylinder discriminating signal detecting senser 15 is inputted to each ignition circuit 12, 12' directly and respectively. According to this method, the ignition effected by the plasma ignition plugs 5, 5' is divided into two times and thus the predetermined object may be achieved.
