Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the decomposition of an active component ascorbic acid with time and obtain an emulsified composition of the ascorbic acid, useful for a cosmetic, food or medicine, and having improved stability, by adding a hydrated compound or a compound containing water to a base material component.
CONSTITUTION: A compound having a hydrating power, e.g. glucose or maltose, or a compound having the ability to contain water therein, e.g. acrylic acid polymer is incorporated to stabilize a base material component consisting of 1W20pts.wt. ascorbic acid, 20W80pts.wt. polyhydric alcohol, 5W70pts.wt. liquid oil and 3W 30pts.wt. nonionic surfactant. In the case of a hydrated compound, water to be included is fixed as the water of crystallization. In the case of a compound containing water, the decomposition of the ascorbic acid is prevented by/n suppressing the spreading of water molecules based on the function of the crossliked structure and hydrogen bonding of the compound containing water. Preferably, the amount of the hydrated compound is 1W30pts.wt. and the amount of the compound containing water is 0.001W0.1pt.wt. based on the total weight.
