Abstract

PURPOSE:To elminate photometric errors owing to stains, etc. by using reaction vessels having upper parts like light transmittable rigid pipes and lower parts like flexible bags, depressing the lower parts after reaction to force the test liquid consisting of samples and reagents to the pipe-like upper parts and performing photometry. CONSTITUTION:Reaction vessels 1 having hard pipe-like upper parts 1a and flexible bag-like lower parts 1b are immersed at the lower parts 1b in a thermostat 3 and are transferred stepwise alont the prescribed reaction line. In an agitating position, the operation of depressing and releasing the lower part 1b made of a flexible member in such a way as to pinch the same with a pressing mechanism 14 is accomplished. In a photometric position, the lower part 1b is depressed to force the test liquid upward into the upper part 1a, and measurement such as of light absorption is accomplished with a photometric device 33 having a light source 20, a lens 22, an interference filter 24, prisms 26, 27, and a photodetector 29. With such constitution, the direct photometric system for the reaction vessels is employed without the mutual contamination between the test liquids owing to agitation and without receiving the adverse influence of stains and disturbances by the constant temp. liquid.
