PURPOSE:To obtain an easy-to-see a contracted screen by writing in a storage means a video signal of a channel contracted and inserted into one reproduced picture screen, and reading out it synchronizing with a video signal of a reproduction channel. CONSTITUTION:A television receiver 1 projects a picture of a channel A on a screen 2A with a main channel knob 3A. At part of the screen 2A, a picture of a channel B selected with a subchannel knob 3B is contracted and projected. A video signal of the channel B is sampled at its synchronizing speed and written in a storage device, and read out at the synchronizing speed of a vedeo signal of the channel A. The video signal of the channel B is sampled while the upper and lower parts of the screen are cut, thus obtaining an easy-to-see contracted picture.
