Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a golden sintered alloy free from bores and blow holes and having superior luster, corrosion resistance and strength by mixing NbN when TiN is bound with an Fe group metal to obtain a sintered alloy.
CONSTITUTION: This hard sintered alloy for decoration consists of, by wt., 40W95% mixture of TiN with NbN, 1W30% of ≥1 kind of carbide selected from Cr, Mo, W, V and Ta carbides, and 2W30% one or more among Fe, Co and Ni. By mixing TiN with NbN and carrying out sintering, NbN is solubilized in the Fe group metal as a binder in the sintering process and precipitated on the surface of TiN powder to improve the wetting property of the Fe group metal. When NbN is precipitated, it is converted into a solid soln. together with TiN to inhibit the grain growth of TiN, and a fine-grained sintered body of high strength can be obtd. by sintering at a lower temp. Thus, the purpose can be attained probably. A very small amount of added NbN improves the sinterability, and by changing the amount of added NbN, an alloy having a subtly changed color tone is obtd.
