Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove nitrogen oxides from an exhaust gas, especially, a high temp. exhaust gas in good efficiency by utilizing such a phenomenon that, if hydrogen type synthetic zeolite is used as a catalyst, an extremely high denitrating ratio is obtained in a high temp. range of 500W700°C.
CONSTITUTION: By using a hydrogen type synthetic zeolite as a catalyst, the reductive decomposition reaction of NOx is carried out under a reaction temp. condition of 500W700°C, pref., 500W650°C while GHSV of NOx containing gas is adjusted to about 100W150,000hr-1, pref., about 10,000W100,000hr-1. In this case, an addition amount of ammonia basing on NOx contained in said gas may be a stoichiometric amount or more but, when denitration is carried out at a high temp. exceeding 600°C, use of an excessive amt. is preferred. Generally, the reaction is carried out so as to adjust a molar ratio of NH3/NOx to about 1.0W1.5 and, as the hydrogen type synthetic zeolite, one having an avaliable fine pore size of 8W12Å is used.
