PURPOSE:To perform black and white reversing printing by simple controlling means, by examining the contents of attribution bits indicating the presence or absence of black-white reversed printed letters provided in letter codes, and providing means reversing theoretical values of printing data. CONSTITUTION:Letter code information with attribution bits C issued from a host apparatus 101 is successively stored via a circuit 102 in a RAM110 under the control of microprogram of a printer controller 103. By printing start command the controller 103 reads out the letter codes in the RAM110, sends them as addresses for a letter pattern memory 109, and the letter pattern information read out by the memory 109 is sent to a printer driver 111 via the RAM110. The controller 103 judges the contents of the attribution bits C, and black-white reversing printing is carried out only for the letter codes wherein there are 1s.
