Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the energy required for drying, by centrifuging an aqueous PVC dispersion into a PVC-rich portion and a PVC-poor portion, concentrating the latter by ultrafiltration, mixing the resulting liquor with said PVC-rich portion and spray-drying the mixture to obtain the titled PVC resin.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous dispersion contg. 15W60wt% PVC prepared by, for example, fine suspension polymerization is centrifuged into a PVC-rich portion and a PVC-poor portion of PVC concentration 1W35wt%. The poor portion is subjected to ultrafiltration to obtain a concentrated liquor of PVC concetration of 20W60wt%. A mixture obtained by mixing the concentrated liquor with the rich portion is spray-dried to obtain paste PVC resin.
