Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a molding material of small optical strain and superior heat resistance by consisting the same of methyl methacrylate and alkyl (meth) acrylate and having specific viscosities and thermal deformation temp. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer which consists of 99-70pts.wt. methyl methacrylate (A) and 1-30pts.wt. alkyl acrylate or alkyl methacrylate having alkyl groups of C1-12 (B), and of which the interinsic viscosity (Y) (l/g) and thermal deformation temp. (X) ( deg.C) satisfy the following conditions; X>=65, Y>=0.040, Y<=5-X 1/10<4>X+0.0925. Methyl acrylate in particular is more preferable in terms of scratching resistance as the copolymer component (B) used. The resultant molding material is adaptable to both injection molding and compression molding; the molding of less optical strain is obtained by the injection molding in particular.
