Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a whole structure compact and improve the durability by detecting the backward load deviation created on the back side of a rack gear with a sensor fixed in a gear casing having no rotary section. CONSTITUTION:A rack gear 5 engaged with a pinion gear 1 is supported on its back side opposite to the pinion gear 1 by a guide 6 free of sliding. This guide 6, being pressed by a spring 8 provided between the guide 6 and a cap 7, always pushes the rack gear 5 toward the pinion gear 1. A sensor device 10 is provided on the cap 7, and the sensor device 10 is composed of a sensor 11 to detect the deviation on the back of the rack gear 5 and a transfer rod 12 to convey said deviation of the rack gear 5 to the sensor 11.
