Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve the display of a color television picture with bright and easy to see on a flat display device, by combining a flat-shaped electron beam and fluorescent body. CONSTITUTION:A flat display device consists of a back electrode 1, cathode ray 2 as beam source, vertical collection electrodes 3, 3', beam flow control electrode 5, horizontal electrode 7, beam acceleration electrode 8, and screen 9. The screen 9 is split into a plurality of sections vertically and electron beam is generated at each section, and respective electron beam is deflected vertically at each section to display a plurality of lines. Further, a plurality of sections are made horizontally and fluorescent substances of R, G, B 20 are sequentially illuminated. The quantity of electron beam irradiation to the fluorescent body 20 is controlled with a color video signal. Thus, bright and easy to see color TV picture can be displayed on the flat display device.
