Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous copying by discriminating the size of an original by detecting the side and positions of the original by arranging a solid scanning element, which reads the original, so that it performs a main scan from the outside of the original to the inside. CONSTITUTION:Solid scanning elements 1a and 1b which read an original 4 are arranged so that they perform main scans on the original 4 from the outside to the inside; and picture information scanned by the elements 1a and 1b is read by the clock of a clock generator 10 and stored in registers 14 and 15 temporarily. At this time, the clock is applied to a CPU11, whose CPU counters C1-C2 and L1-L2 count the position of the original. Further, the contents of the registers 14 and 15 are read out and stored in an image memory 18 by a control part 16. The size of the original 4 is discriminated by the elements 1a and 1b and counters C1-C2 and L1-L2 to control a laser diode 19 which inputs the output of the memory 18, preventing erroneous copying.
