Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure a constant molten surface level, and also to execute an automatic injection start in the initial stage of casting, by controlling a molten metallic surface level in a mold by use of a capacity system molten metallic surface level gauge. CONSTITUTION:An electrostatic capacity between molten metallic surfaces in a mold 2 is detected by a capacity system detector 16 of a molten metallic surface level measuring device, is converted to a signal proportional to a distance by a converter 18, and is provided as a molten metallic surface level l to a controller 20 and a recorder 19. Also, to the controller 20, a target molten metallic surface level lS from a setting device 21, and an auxiliary control signal from a computer 24 are provided. The controller 20 applies a control signal according to a deviation between the levels lS and l to an operator 22. The computer 24 executes a model operation by a drawing speed signal and a tundish weight signal proportional to capacity of a molten metal 4 in a tundish 1, and generates an auxiliary control signal. The operator 22 operates an SN switch 23 in accordance with a control signal, controls the quantity of injection of a metal 4, and keeps a molten metallic surface level in the mold 2 constant.
