Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a joined material for electrolysis of low electric resistance and superior flexibility, adhesive strength, etc. by treating the platinum group metallic ions exchanged and adsorbed on a cation exchange membrane with an aq. boronhydride salt soln. to deposit a metallic layer on the inside surface of the membrane then further bringing this into contact with a specific aq. basic soln. CONSTITUTION:A cation exchange membrane of usuablly about 0.05-0.4mm. consisting of hydrocarbon perfluoride resin having more particularly preferably sulfonic acid groups or carboxylic acid groups is prepared. Next, this cation exchange membrane is immersed in an aq. basic soln. of chloride, sulfate, etc. of platinum group metals (e.g.; Pt, Rh, etc.) at ordinary temp. -90 deg.C, after which said metallic ions are ion exchanged and adsorbed, then this membrane is treated in an aq. boron hydride salt soln. and the metallic ions are reduced and a metallic layer is deposited. Next, said exchange membrane deposited with the metallic layer is further brought into an aq. basic soln. contg. salt of platinum group metals and dialkylamineborane (e.g.; dimethylamineborane) whereby the metallic layer on the membrane surface is grown and a desired joined body for electrolysis is produced.
