Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a polyolefin capable of forming films excellent in transparency and impact resistance, by polymerizing an olefin by use of a catalyst system consisting of a solid TiCl3, an organic Al compound and a specified combintation of electron-donating compounds.
CONSTITUTION: An olefin (e.g., propylene) is polymerized by use of a catalyst system consisting of (A) solid TiCl3 (e.g., a compound having an Al content corresponding to an Al/Ti atomic ratio ≤0.15 and containing an aluminum halide represented by formulaI, wherein R1 is a 1W20C hydrocarbyl, X is a halogen and p is in the range: 0≤p≤2, and a complexing agent in an amount to provide a mol ratio to TiCl3≥0.001, said compound being, for example, a complex of formula II, wherein R1, X and p are defined as above, C is the complexing agent, ≤0.15 and t≥0.001), (B) an organic Al compound (e.g., a compound of formula III, wherein R4 is a 1W20C hydrocarbyl and n is 1.95W2.10), (C) an aromatic compound (e.g., benzene) and (D) a monocarboxylate ester having an aromatic multi-fused ring in the molecule (e.g., ethyl α-naphthoate). The stereo-regularlity is improved. The MW distribution remains low, and the transparency and impact strength of film are improved.
