Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain the linearity of a signal track by preventing the deformation of a tape guide by providing elasticity to a fitting member which fits the cylinder of a magnetic recording and reproducing device, whose rotary video head scans a magnetic tape spirally, to the base plate of the device. CONSTITUTION:Cylinder fitting surfaces 16a-16c of a fitting member 18 for the fitting of a cylinder are supported by main shores 17a-17c, and the width and thickness of the shores are so determined that the rigidity is less than that of a fixed cylinder provided with a tape guide. Even if the surfaces 16a-16c are not in the same plane and have a step twist, the deformation is absorbed as the curvature of the shore and the cylinder fitting surfaces 16a-16c and the cylinder 8 are coupled, thereby nearly eliminating the influence of the disorder of the cylinder fitting surfaces upon the tape guide and cylinder base plate. The tape guide provided to the fixed cylinder is fitted to the cylinder base plate without deforming and the linearity of a recorded video signal track is maintained, so that the compartibility between VTRs is not spoiled.
