Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the digital output by a bit, by connecting the resistances of the same value to the resistances provided across a resistance train which supplies the reference potential via switches. CONSTITUTION:First, a switch SW1 is closed with a switch SW2 opened to carry out an A/D conversion, and the result of this conversion is held at a decoder circuit 1'. Then the state is reversed between the switches SW1 and SW2 to carry out an A/D conversion, and the result of this conversion is applied to the circuit 1' to receive a code conversion together with the result of the preceding conversion. As a result, a conversion of (N+1) bits is possible with increase of one bit compared with the conventional conversion. In case the analog input voltage has a extensive change by a shift between the time point of A/D conversion in the 1st state and that in the 2nd state, a sample holding circuit 2 is connected to the front stage of an A/D converter 3.
