Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled fiber that is produced by treating, with an alkali, a conjugated yarn having specific cross section, which is composed of two polyesters different in alkali hydrolysis rate of which at least one contains carbon black, thus having comfortable, light touch and showing deep black color.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A polyester mainly composed of polyethylene terephthalate and (B) another polyester more hydrolyzable than component B such as polyethylene terephthalate copolymer containing a small amount of 5-sodisosulfonylisophthalic acid are used to effect conjugate spinning so that the resultant fiber has a cross section in which the component A is divided with the component B into plural sections in point symmetry and exposed to the fiber surface. The resultant conjugate fiber is made into fabrics, treated with alkali and dyed into black color. Carbon black is added to either of the two components by 0.5W 40wt% before spinning.
